Privacy Policy

Last updated: May 2, 2026

This is the privacy policy for jestercreative.com, the website for Jester. It explains what information we collect when you visit the site, what we do with it, and what choices you have. We've tried to write this the way a person actually talks. If anything is unclear, email sue@jestercreative.com and we'll explain.

The short version

When you visit this site, basic technical information is collected automatically (your IP address, browser type, pages you view). If you fill out a form, book a call, take the Clarity Compass, or subscribe to our list, you're giving us additional information on purpose. We use that information to do the thing you asked us to do, run the site, send you what you signed up for, follow up on a project, and nothing more.

We don't sell your data. We don't share it with anyone except the service providers we need to actually run the business (listed below). You can ask us what we have on you, and you can ask us to delete it.

Who we are

Jester is a strategic communications and responsible AI consultancy based in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. The data controller for this site is Susan Murphy, Co-Founder and Director of Operations. You can reach her at sue@jestercreative.com.

What we collect when you visit the site

This site is hosted on Squarespace, which means a few things happen automatically whenever anyone, including you, loads a page:

  • Your IP address is logged

  • Information about your browser, network, and device is collected

  • The pages you visit, links you click, and how long you stay are tracked

  • The site you came from before this one is recorded

Squarespace uses this information to serve the site to you, keep it secure, and give us aggregate analytics about what's working. You can read Squarespace's own privacy policy at squarespace.com/privacy.

We use Squarespace's built-in analytics only. We don't run Google Analytics or any third-party tracking on top of it.

Cookies

Cookies are small files a website drops on your device so it can remember things between visits. This site uses two kinds:

  • Necessary cookies are always on. They let Squarespace serve the site to you securely. You can't turn these off without breaking the site.

  • Analytics and performance cookies are only used after you accept them through the cookie banner that appears on your first visit. These help us understand how the site is being used.

You can change your mind anytime by clearing your cookies in your browser settings. For the full list of cookies Squarespace uses, see The cookies Squarespace uses.

Fonts

The site uses Playfair Display and DM Sans, which are served through Google Fonts. To render the typography on your screen, Google receives basic information about your browser, your device, and the page you're viewing. We don't share anything else with them.

When you fill out a form

When you contact us through a form on this site, we collect whatever you typed into the form, typically your name, email address, and a message about what you're looking for. We use that information to respond to you and, if we end up working together, to manage the relationship.

Form submissions are sent to:

  • A Jester inbox (so we actually see it and reply)

  • Squarespace's built-in form storage (so we have a record)

  • Google Drive / Sheets (for organization and follow-up)

  • Zapier, in some cases, to move data between the tools we use

If we end up working together, your information may also flow into our standard project management and contract tools. We'll tell you what those are at the time.

When you take the Clarity Compass

The Clarity Compass is our free AI readiness assessment, built as a custom GPT on OpenAI's platform. When you use it, your responses are processed by OpenAI in order to generate your assessment.

This is worth being explicit about, especially if you work in a sector with restrictions on what can be shared with US-based AI vendors (government, post-secondary, regulated nonprofits). Your inputs go to OpenAI. OpenAI's privacy policy is at openai.com/policies/privacy-policy.

We don't see your individual Clarity Compass conversations unless you choose to share them with us. If you book a follow-up call after taking the assessment, we'll ask you what you want to share.

If you'd rather not have your inputs processed by OpenAI, don't use the tool. Email sue@jestercreative.com instead and we'll do the readiness conversation directly.

When you book a call or pay for services

We use Calendly for booking discovery calls, consultations, and paid sessions. When you book through a Calendly link on our site, Calendly collects your name, email address, the time you booked, and any information you add to the booking form. Calendly's privacy policy is at calendly.com/privacy.

If your booking includes a payment, Calendly processes that through its integrated payment provider. We don't see or store your full credit card information at any point. Calendly's payment processor handles it directly.

When you subscribe to our emails

If you sign up for our list, we send marketing emails through Squarespace Email Campaigns. We use these to share new writing, frameworks, and the occasional update about what we're working on. We don't send you anything you didn't sign up for.

You can unsubscribe at the bottom of any email. When you unsubscribe, we stop sending. If you also want us to delete your record entirely, email sue@jestercreative.com.

Share buttons and blog comments

Some pages on this site include share buttons that let you post a link on social media. If you click one, the third-party platform (LinkedIn, X, Facebook, etc.) may receive your IP address, browser information, and details about the page you shared. We don't control what those platforms do with that information. Their privacy policies do.

If you leave a comment on a blog post, we collect your name (which is shown publicly with your comment), your email address (optional, used only to notify you of replies), and your website URL if you provide one. We also collect basic technical information to prevent spam.

Your rights

You can ask us:

  • What personal information we have about you

  • To correct anything that's wrong

  • To delete your information entirely

  • To stop processing it for a specific purpose

Email sue@jestercreative.com with the request and we'll respond within 30 days. We may need to verify it's actually you before we act on the request.

A note for Canadian visitors

Jester is based in Ontario and operates under the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA), along with applicable provincial privacy law. Under PIPEDA you have the right to access your personal information, correct it, and withdraw consent for its use. The contact above is the route for any of those requests.

If you're not satisfied with how we've handled your request, you can contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada at priv.gc.ca.

A note for visitors in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, and Switzerland

If you're visiting from the EEA, the UK, or Switzerland, the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and equivalent UK and Swiss laws give you specific rights over your personal information. Jester is the data controller for any information you submit through this site.

We process your personal information on the following legal bases:

  • Consent, when you subscribe to our list, take the Clarity Compass, or accept analytics cookies through our banner

  • Contract, when you book a call, pay for a service, or engage us for project work

  • Legitimate interests, when we respond to a contact form, run the website, or protect against spam and abuse

Under GDPR you have the right to:

  • Access the personal information we hold about you

  • Correct information that's inaccurate or incomplete

  • Erase your information ("right to be forgotten")

  • Restrict or object to how we process it

  • Receive your information in a portable format

  • Withdraw consent at any time, where consent is the basis we relied on

  • Lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority

To exercise any of these rights, email sue@jestercreative.com. We'll respond within 30 days.

Some of our service providers (Squarespace, Google, OpenAI, Calendly) are based in the United States. When your information is transferred to them, the transfer relies on the standard contractual clauses those providers maintain with their EU and UK customers, or on equivalent safeguards published in their own privacy policies. If you'd rather not have your information transferred to the US, the safest path is to contact us directly at sue@jestercreative.com rather than using the site's tools.

A note for visitors outside Canada, the EEA, the UK, and Switzerland

Some of the service providers we use (Squarespace, Google, OpenAI, Calendly) are based in the United States. When you use this site, your information may be transferred to and processed in the US under their respective privacy frameworks. If that's a problem for you, the safest path is to contact us directly at sue@jestercreative.com instead of using the site's tools.

Changes to this policy

If we change how we handle data, we'll update this page and change the "last updated" date at the top. For significant changes, we'll also note it in our next email to subscribers. The current version is always the one published here.
